quick trip but lots done!

yesterday evan and i went to charlotte. we only stayed for about 24 hours but i feel like i did a lot! we got there and went straight to grammyes house to unload. she babysat evan while i ran all around charlotte. first stop was the obgyn to have my final visit. i went in, they weighed me (ive lost half of the weight i gained, which is pretty good i guess), looked at my scar, and then said "mail us a baby picture". such a waste of time visit but i guess thats better than it being some big deal and something being wrong.

from there i went to the hospital to set up a payment plan for the expenses which insurance did not cover. after all is said and done, we are going to end up paying about $1200 for the birth. i think thats pretty good considering i had met none of my deductible for the year and it was a c-section. i just really love that hospital. everyone is so nice and helpful. im going to be sad not to go back there for the next baby.

from there i went to the mall to get my haircut. i, for the first time in my life, found someone who i love to cut my hair! her name is emily and she is awesome. shes my age and SO good at what she does! shes so good that im willing to pay her price ($40, i have always been super cheap with haircuts) and i always schedule my next haircut before i leave. plus i love the salon. its the carmen and carmen salon thats part of belk but its an aveda salon so everything smells so wonderful and relaxing. she starts off the cut by giving you a relaxing massage through your hair- its fabulous. and i love my haircut. its the same just much shorter and it feels great!

from there i went back to grammyes house for dinner. my cousin aaron and his wife lani and their sweet girl nora came over for dinner too to meet evan. nora likes to look at evans birth announcement in the car and when they were coming in the house and lani said to her "want to see baby evan?" she headed back to the car to see the announcement- such a cutie! i cant believe shes 18 months, that time has FLOWN! anyway, i love hanging out with lani and aaron, i know matt wishes he could have been there cause he enjoys their company just as much. here are some pictures from the night of nora and evan. sadly, none of them are very good just very entertaining.

the trip was far too short! i love being with my grandparents and am so thankful for everything they are always doing for me. i mean, she sent me home with an entire meatloaf, broccoli salad, mashed potatoes, and cupcakes!

nora!

she decided all on her own to feed him his empty bottle

once you go tummy, you never go back

so evan is a stomach sleeper. i know that many of you reading this are gasping in disbelief- it is definitely not encouraged, but the fact is, it's the only way he sleeps!

i'm not sure when it happened exactly. he has been a great sleeper since day 1, literally. in the hospital we would call the nurse and ask if he was okay because they would take him to the nursery and he would be gone for hours but it was because he was sleeping. i have always let him take a nap or 2 during the day on his tummy because i could watch him through it. he always slept longer during those naps. so one night, he woke up every 30 minutes for a few hours and i couldn't handle it so i brought him out to the living room and let him sleep on me. i didn't that was very safe but i had to sleep. the next night, same thing was happening so i came and got on the internet and searched "sleeping on your tummy". turns out LOTS of moms let their babies sleep on their stomachs even though it's not encouraged.

i didn't make the decision without any thought. actually, i was very nervous about it. but in the end, i know i've done what's right for my baby. he has no other triggers for sids- low birth weight, second hand smoke, drinking/smoking/drugs during pregnancy, so i'm not worried anymore. last night he slept from 8:30- 3:30 and then didn't wake up again until 8. i'm down with that.

homeowners at last

we are in our house- finally! it has been a week and a half since we moved in. we have accomplished quite a lot in that time but needless to say, there is still a lot to do. i have been averaging about 5 boxes a day of unpacking and while that may sound great, there wasn't much to show for it. but today we made huge strides, since there were 2 of us working. it's amazing how much more you accomplish with just one more person helping. and i really dont know how women survive without men cause i couldnt without matt. he hung all the pictures and the shelves and moved all the boxes into their proper rooms, i am so thankful for him! and evan has been a big help to- he makes it all worthwhile! and he is so thoughtful and alway makes sure i get nice breaks and then entertains me during them- how sweet! so we are in and now i will be back on the blog-wagon. so to all my readers (cause i know theyre are tons of you) watch out- here come the posts!

tomorrow we move!

finally, tomorrow, we close on our house! i cannot wait to get in there and get everything set up. i have been living out of suitcase since january and matt since july. we are both so ready to have our own space again. we are especially ready for evan to be in his own space! i know he doesnt care but i certainly do. im ready to assemble the crib, paint the walls, and make it HIS space! i cant wait. its going to be a wonderful day where a huge stress is lifted off our shoulders. and then ill have internet again and will be posting much more often. its the pits that i missed evans first month of posting! at least i write in my journal every night so i have documented his life thus far.
