the first one i can vividly remember happened while we were buying thank you cards for our wedding. he asked me "where do you find thank you cards?" and i told him "in the stationary section" to which he responded "what's stationary?" i have asked so many people since then if they agree with me that the meaning of the word "stationary" is common knowledge and of course, everyone does.
another example happened more recently. but i don't remember the context of the conversation. all i know is somehow i mentioned a poodle skirt and matt had no clue what i was talking about. again, i have done plenty of informal surveying and everyone agrees- common knowledge.
then tonight. we were watching the college world series championship game (go cocks! even with a loss- forever to thee!) and they kept talking about the boy who throws up the "i love you" sign to his parents when he does well. matt did not know the sign for i love you!! katie and i told him that is common knowledge and he didn't agree with us. so i told him i was going to ask everyone on facebook to like my status if they knew what the sign for "i love you" was and if they agreed that it is common knowledge. well, after about an hour, i have 67 likes! that includes one of our band directors from college, my horn professor, and some of his fraternity brothers. so i would say, case closed.
he blames all of this on me being a girl and him being a guy that was "never around girls". all i know is i know something he doesn't and i like to pick on him about it! it's good to be right sometimes!!
